Ashanti Mother Project

| Pat Wescott of the
Kings River Patch has been hard at work spearheading the Ashanti Mother
project. The tickets have gone out to the Patch leaders
and the babies are pouring in. She is having 3 posters produced to promote
ticket sales at gourd festivals, fairs and art events. Contact Pat if you
want one of these posters or an 8”X10” photo of the Ashanti
Mother for your upcoming event. Patch leaders are asked to send a check
to Pat for $100 (the face amount of the tickets less the $1 retained by
each patch) to Pat Wescott, 6330 Benicia Avenue, Kingsberg, CA 93631 (559)
897-7470. |
| The Ashanti Mother
is not a stay-at-home mother. She will be appearing at the Welburn Gourd
Festival in June, LA Gourd Fair in October and then
finally at Asilomar next April. The winning ticket will be drawn at Asilomar
and all of her babies will be seen with her for the first time. Patch Leaders
please send (or have your members send) their babies to Pat (see above)
together with a picture of the artist who made each baby, and a picture
of the baby (can be all one picture) both with their name firmly attached.
The babies ship well if wrapped in bubble wrap or foam. Pat will be at
Welburn’s if you want to deliver them in person.
Let her know so she can be looking for you. All babies are being created
by MEMBERS of CGS only and must be delivered by September
1, 2005. |
| Pat writes: “Having these babies delivered to me is like Christmas
from the Stork. Each one is special and I can’t wait to see them.
The rewards of volunteering are so wonderful. Try it-there are never enough
volunteers at fairs and events. The time you spend brings wonderful new
people into your life. It also makes you appreciate the Board members,
Bee Hylinski, Carol Rookstool, Lisa Toth, Leigh Adams, Niki Escobedo, Lorraine
Valenzuela, Lynne Bunt, Doug Welburn, Betty Bluekle etc. for all the hard
work they do for so many. Their efforts support us having fun and learning
more about fun things to do with gourds, but they need your help too. I
am so glad I said “yes” to this project.” We are so glad
too and send our thanks to you, Pat! |
