The CGS Gourd College at Asilomar is looking for teachers to apply to teach at this exciting event. We will be offering classes on Saturday and Sunday. You may apply to teach up to 3 three hour classes or one six hour class. You receive $ 25 per student as well as material fees. Teachers may elect to stay either on site or off site.

It is expected that teachers will provide art ready gourds (cleaned and cut) If you are staying on site the cost is $250 and you may choose to defer $ 200 to be deducted from your teaching check. Teachers are paid at the end of the conference at noon on Sunday.

When applying please include a clear photo of the project and any handout materials if available. We will also request that upon acceptance a digital photo be sent for use on the website

Selected teachers are requested to donate a completed gourd to the auction/raffle held on Saturday night. This piece should be delivered to the raffle table on Saturday morning before classes begin.

 Box lunches are provided to teachers on Saturday at your request in advance of the event

The majority of our guests are experienced gourd artists. Please emphasis on your application skills that will be learned

Application deadline is 5/15/07. You will be advised of acceptance 6/1/07.

Accepted teachers are invited to participate in the teacher sale at conclusion of classes on Saturday. You may sell either your art or tools and supplies. This part of the weekend has historically been well received by our guests and is offered as an additional financial incentive for our teachers.

Note:   The majority of classes and all evening events are held in Merrill Hall. This is a historical mission style auditorium that is centrally located to the dining room and a majority of the sleeping rooms we are assigned. The use of leather dye is discouraged but can be accommodated. We will endeavor to provide additional lighting or you may bring supplemental lighting if overall power requirements allow.

Please note at the bottom of your application any additional information that will assist me in assigning teaching locations and evaluating lighting and other power requirements. We will do our best to accommodate you.
